Refining with AI
Refine a selection from the floating menu or the whole document from the toolbar, what each mode preserves, and why it does not touch your quota.
Once you have a draft, you can improve it with AI in place. There are two ways to do it, and they behave differently on purpose.
AI refinement does not count against your monthly generation quota. Only generating a new document does. Refine as much as you like.
Refine a selection
Select any text in the editor and a floating menu appears. Open the AI option and tell it what you want, for example "Make shorter" or "Fix grammar."
Selection refinement is deliberately conservative. It rewrites the prose you selected and nothing more. It will not add headings, turn your sentence into a bulleted list, or restructure the surrounding section. This keeps a quick polish from quietly reshaping your document.
Refine the whole document
Click the AI Edit button in the toolbar, or press Ctrl/Cmd + J, to refine the entire document at once. Tell it what you want, for example "Add more detail to the acceptance criteria" or "Improve clarity and readability."
Whole-document refinement is aware of your document's structure. It can adjust across sections while preserving the overall shape, so the document stays organized.
Which mode runs
ForceVue picks the mode based on what you are refining:
- A small selection from the floating menu gets the conservative, prose-only rewrite.
- The whole document from the toolbar gets the structure-aware pass.
You do not choose the mode by hand. Select text for the focused edit, use the toolbar button for the document-wide one.
Keyboard shortcut
The keyboard shortcut only opens the AI Edit input. It never triggers a generation on its own. You always type your instruction and confirm before anything runs.
Where to go next
- Generating documents to create the draft you refine.
- Usage & limits for what does and does not count against quota.
