Initiatives
Create, describe, and archive initiatives, and find your way around the initiative page.
An initiative is a container for one product effort. A new feature, a launch, a redesign, a quarter of work: each gets its own initiative, and everything related to it (context, goals, documents) lives inside.
Initiatives are not a rigid hierarchy. You can create them in any order and link documents across them as you go.
Create an initiative
- From your dashboard, click New Initiative.
- Enter a title. Make it specific.
- Good: "Mobile App Authentication Redesign"
- Good: "Q2 2026 Customer Portal"
- Avoid: "Project 1" or "New Feature"
- Add a short description (optional, but it helps the AI). Say what the initiative is trying to achieve and who is involved.
- Click Create Initiative.
You land on the new initiative's page.
The initiative page
Each initiative page has four tabs.
- Goals. The outcomes for this initiative: business outcomes, user outcomes, success metrics, and constraints. ForceVue reads these when it generates. See Goals.
- Context. The research, feedback, competitors, and constraints that inform this effort. This is the raw material for generation. See Context items.
- Documents. Everything ForceVue has written for this initiative, plus the Generate Document button. You can also upload reference files here. See Generating documents and Uploading documents.
- Activity. A log of what happened in this initiative and who did it.
Archive an initiative
When an effort is done, archive the initiative instead of deleting it. Archiving keeps the work but moves it out of your main list. Open the initiative's actions menu (the "..." button on its card or the menu on the initiative page) and choose Archive.
Archived initiatives stay searchable and their documents remain intact. To see them again, click Show archived on the initiatives list. To bring one back, open its actions menu and choose Unarchive.
What's next
- Add the context items that will inform your documents.
- Set goals so generation stays pointed at outcomes.
- Generate your first document.
