Uploading documents
Upload PDFs, Word docs, Markdown, and more, how they are indexed for retrieval, how they feed generation and chat, and the limits per plan.
You can upload existing files (research reports, transcripts, specs, decks) so ForceVue can draw on them when it generates documents and answers in chat. Uploads are indexed for retrieval, so the relevant passages surface when they matter.
Uploading
Open an initiative's Documents tab and use the upload area to add files. After upload, ForceVue extracts the text, splits it into chunks, and indexes it. Once processing finishes, the file is available to retrieval.
Supported file types
ForceVue accepts a range of common formats, including:
- Word (
.docx) - PowerPoint (
.pptx) - Excel (
.xlsx) - Markdown and plain text
- CSV, JSON, XML, and HTML
How uploads feed generation and chat
Once a file is indexed, ForceVue retrieves the most relevant passages from it when you:
- Generate a document. Relevant upload content joins your context items, goals, and related documents in the draft. See How generation works.
- Use chat. Chat retrieves from your uploads and cites them in its answers. See Workspace chat.
- Search. Upload contents are searchable. See Search.
You do not paste a whole report into a context item. You upload it, and ForceVue pulls in just the parts that are relevant to what you are writing.
Generated documents are indexed too
Documents that ForceVue generates are automatically indexed the same way, so they can inform later generations, chat, and search. They do not appear in your Uploaded Files list, which only shows files you uploaded yourself.
Limits per plan
Two limits apply: the size of a single file and the number of files per initiative.
| Plan | Max file size | Files per initiative |
|---|---|---|
| Free | 10 MB | 10 |
| Pro | 25 MB | 25 |
| Team | 50 MB | 50 |
| Consultant | 50 MB | 100 |
Each plan also has an overall storage allowance across the workspace, which grows with the plan. A storage bar in the upload area shows how much of your allowance you have used. If an upload would exceed your file-size limit or your storage allowance, ForceVue tells you before processing.
